The Effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model Assisted by Quizizz Media on IPAS Learning Outcomes of Grade IV Elementary School Students in Sanggau Regency

Background: Social Science and Natural Science (IPAS) learning in elementary schools faces significant challenges, particularly in teaching the topic of social and cultural diversity in Indonesia. Conventional, teacher-centered approaches have failed to stimulate students’ critical thinking skills and active engagement, especially in the multi-ethnic context of Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan.

Objectives: This study aims to: (1) test the significant effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Quizizz media on IPAS learning outcomes of Grade IV students; (2) describe the effectiveness of Quizizz in improving motivation and cognitive learning outcomes on the social and cultural diversity topic through PBL; and (3) analyze differences in learning outcomes between students taught using PBL assisted by Quizizz and those taught using conventional methods at SD Negeri in Sanggau Regency.

Methods: This study employs a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental Research method using a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The study population comprises 45 Grade IV students across three SD Negeri in Sanggau Regency: SD Negeri 01 Sanggau (experimental), SD Negeri 02 Balai Karangan (experimental), and SD Negeri 14 Sekumpai (control). Samples were selected using purposive sampling. Data collection instruments include direct observation sheets, teacher performance observation sheets, a learning achievement test (20 multiple-choice items via Quizizz), and interview guidelines. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov/Shapiro-Wilk), homogeneity test (Levene’s test), Independent Sample t-Test, and N-Gain score.

Expected Findings: Based on the theoretical framework and relevant prior research, it is hypothesized that the PBL model assisted by Quizizz media will have a significant positive effect on IPAS learning outcomes, demonstrate greater effectiveness in increasing motivation and cognitive learning outcomes compared to conventional methods, and produce a statistically significant difference in post-test scores between the experimental and control groups.

Conclusion: The PBL model assisted by Quizizz media is projected to be a contextually relevant, effective, and innovative approach to improving IPAS learning outcomes in the local cultural context of Sanggau Regency, providing empirical evidence to support its broader adoption in elementary social and science education in Indonesia.

The Impact of Kahoot! And Quizizz to Teach English Tenses for Flyers

Mastering English tenses is crucial for A2 Flyers students, enabling them to expand their language proficiency and excel in English examinations such as the Cambridge test. However, many schools and centers solely rely on traditional grammar-based teaching methods and paper exercises, resulting in student disinterest. To address this issue, educators must incorporate modern technological tools to cultivate students’ enthusiasm for learning tenses. Kahoot! and Quizizz present promising opportunities for both teachers and students. This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of using Kahoot! and Quizizz in teaching English tenses to Flyers. Participants in the study are A2 level students at Phuong Nam Language Center. Quantitative data was gathered through pre-test and post-test assessments, while qualitative data was obtained through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The test scores indicated a significant improvement in students’ academic performance, with the mean score increasing from 4.50 in the pre-test to 7.55 in the post-test, indicating notable progress. Moreover, the results highlighted the students’ heightened engagement during the teaching and learning process, particularly with the use of Kahoot! and Quizizz. Consequently, these quiz applications proved to be beneficial tools for teaching English tenses to Flyers.

Development of Quizz-Based Creative Thinking Skill Assessment in Thematic Learning of Elementary School Class V Students

This research and development aims to develop Quizizz-based assessment instruments of creative thinking skills. This study applies the type of development research using the ADDIE model (Analysis Design-Develop-Implement-Evaluate). The Quizizz-based creative thinking skills assessment instrument was tested on a limited scale with 15 students from 3 different schools (SDN 1 Pasir Gintung, SDN 1 Kota Baru, and SDN 2 Kampung Baru). The improved instrument was tested on a large scale in 3 schools (SDN 1 Pasir Gintung, SDN 1 Kota Baru, and SDN 2 Kampung Baru). Data collection techniques using non-test in the form of questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis in this research is descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. (1) Qualitative descriptive analysis techniques are used to analyze data from experts and user validation results. (2) Quantitative analysis descriptive techniques are used to analyze the data obtained from the questionnaire scores. The results of this study indicate that research on the development of Quizizz-based creative thinking skills assessment instruments in thematic learning of fifth grade elementary school students is declared valid (suitable for use), the instrument questions are categorized as sensitive and practical.
