This paper aims to describe the motivation of women traders in improving family welfare in Surakarta. It employs a descriptive method to estimate data and information. Some factors including age, working hours, and duration of trade are investigated through the analysis. The result shows the average female traders work as a trader for 27 years. They formerly help parents then continue business man old or open alone. For starting traders, alone have reason. To fulfill needs, want to forward and because of coercive circumstances. Family always supports them as merchants, with arrangement adjusting time.
