The Development of the Quality of Indonesian Educators through Professional Teachers: A Literature Review

The government’s efforts to continue to develop the teaching profession as a strong and respected profession in line with other professions can be seen from the issuance of Law No. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers who seek to develop the teaching profession through legal protection. The government has made efforts to improve the professionalism of teachers, including increasing the qualifications and requirements for higher education levels for teaching staff from the school level to tertiary institutions. Other efforts made by the government are the certification program and the establishment of the PKG (Teacher Activity Center), MGMP (Subject Teacher Consultation) and KKG (Teacher Working Group). The important thing and needs to be done by the government is to build self-reliance among teachers.

Sleeping Disorders as a Symptom of Depression

Recently, people pay less attention to their sleep since there are a lot of stimulants to keep them awake more than sleeping. According to many reports, the results have shown that many are facing a serious condition, which is sleeping disorder.  This condition is related to sleep and affects the ability to sleep well on a regular basis. It is a serious problem that if left untreated, the condition can lead to many more severe problems. There is a significant correlation between sleeping disorder and depression which is called “bidirectional relationship”. The studies show that sleeping disorders are a “symptom” of almost all types of depression such as Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Seasonal Affective Disorder and so forth. On the other hand, depression itself can also be a cause of sleeping disorders. In addition, the studies show chronic sleep deprivation can cause the changes in Serotonin, which is the brain’s neurotransmitter, and will have a chance to lead to depression greater than acute sleep deprivation. As a result, people should raise awareness in sleeping and usually examine their sleep. To have less chance of depression, a person requires a healthy sleep period and effective care.

The Influence of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Disclosure and Sustainability Accounting on Earnings Response Coefficient (ERC)

The research aimed to analyze the factors which provide earning response coefficient (ERC) received by automotive manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange using indicators of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability accounting from 2013 through 2017. The purposive sampling technique was used to gather data with the criteria, according which 13 companies were obtained as samples, (1) automotive manufacturing companies in 2013 – 2017 listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) (2) automotive manufacturing companies that published the annual reports. Meanwhile, the data were obtained from IDX & published annual reports. The research used a panel data regression panel and data regression model as the analysis technique. The analysis consists of three methods, namely common effect method, fixed-effect and random effect, while the hypothesis testing used t-statistics to test partial regression coefficients and f statistics to test the effect simultaneously at the significance level of 5%. Eventually, the results of the analysis used E-views to show whether: (1) corporate social responsibility (CSR) influences the earnings response coefficient (ERC) and (2) sustainability accounting influences the ERC. The T-test analysis results used E-views to reveal whether CSR and sustainability accounting influence ERC in automotive manufacturing companies listed on the IDX in 2013 – 2017.

Synthesis of Schiff’s Bases from 2-Amino-4H-1, 3-Oxazine / Thiazine and Substituted Aldehydes and their Transition Metal Complexes

Objective: Many methods can be found in literature for the synthesis a Oxazines and Thiazines. Few are reported for one-pot multi component cyclo-condensation of an alkayane urea / Thiourea and Aldehyde to 2- amino-4H-1, 3-Oxazines or Thiazines. Different catalysts are reported like Trifluoro-acetic acid, glacial acetic acid under reflux condition Mandal and Co-workers have utilized perchloric acid (HClO4) supported on silica gel as catalyst under solvent free condition ytterbium trifluorate [Yb(OTF)3] plays role of Lewis acid. It is also used in several Diel’s-Alder cyclo-addition reactions.
Inspired these observations, development of simple effective synthetic strategy for the synthesis of 2-amino-4H-1, 3-Oxazium & Thiazines was attempted.

The Contribution of Sugarcane Partnership for the Livelihood Structure and the Development of Rural Areas in Lampung Province of Indonesia

Sugarcane is a mainstay commodity crop as raw materials for sugar. Therefore, increasing domestic production through partnerships is an effort to suppress the high value of imports. The purposes of this study are to identify the farmer’s household land use, to analyze the income structure and livelihood strategies, and then to conduct an economic dependency analysis on the sugarcane industry in relation to rural area development. The research method used a survey approach of 131 households and interviews with the head of village and the heads of farmer groups. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and analysis of farm income were used. The results show that farmers use land for sugarcane partnership with a choice of Kerjasama Operasional (KSO) or operational cooperation, the Independence (Mandiri), and Hutan Tanaman Industri (HTI) or industrial forest plantation partnership. The sources of livelihood structure of farmers are from non-sugarcane agriculture, sugarcane farming, Non-Timber Forest Products (HHNK), and non-farm. Engaging in sugarcane partnership is a new livelihood strategy for the rural communities surrounding the plantations with benefits that are affected by the area of owned land. While farmers who do not own land, they earn a living by becoming plantation laborers. Farmer involvement in sugarcane partnership contributes to the household income, the existence of uneven welfare, and the emergence of household economic dependence on sugarcane plantations. The sugarcane partnership is a source of income and an engine of rural economic growth; however, the realization of sustainable rural development has not yet emerged.
