The Correlation between the Awareness of the Dangers in Smartphone Radiation and Sleep Quality among High School Students in Thailand

Despite smartphones’ critical benefits in several aspects of living in this generation, their emissions of radiation exert profound effects on the physical health of the affected individuals, including heightened risks of cancer as well as increased fibroblast activity of the skin. The aim of this study endeavors to determine the correlation between awareness of the dangers in utilizing smartphones before bed and sleep quality among high school students, to raise consciousness of the perils of smartphone radiation, and to observe sleep qualities among high school students. Through previous research, it was hypothesized that awareness of the dangers in smartphone radiation would negatively impact the sleep quality of the participants due to the negative ramifications of the radiation. To verify whether this also implies an impact on the Thai population, data were collected using a cross-sectional method with random samples of both Thai and international high school students. The information was later analyzed via Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS). The results indicate a robust correlation between dangers in smartphone’s radiation and sleep quality (p = 0.451**), grade and sleep quality (p = 0.003*), and age and sleep quality (p = 0.002*). Moreover, a strong correlation between grade and sleep quality, as well as age and sleep quality, can be inferred that grade and age correlate with the amount of stress within individuals, having a negative effect on individuals’ sleep quality. Ultimately, this research not only analyzes the correlation in the findings but also aims to raise awareness of potential hazards in smartphone radiation among high school students to enhance their sleep quality.

Enhancing Community Participation in Corporate Social Responsibility Activities at PT. Prima Bara Nusantara through Improved Decision-Making Process

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is crucial for companies that have a substantial ecological footprint, such as coal mining in Indonesia. PT. PBN strives to achieve a harmonious combination of responsible behaviors and economic viability. However, attaining this equilibrium necessitates strong community engagement to alleviate negative effects and provide beneficial contributions at the local level. This study focuses on the underexplored issue of poor community participation in CSR initiatives within Indonesia’s coal mining sector. Although PT. PBN has made substantial investments in environmental and community activities, recent evaluations indicate a substantial disparity between stakeholder expectations and the level of actual participation in activities. Gaining insight into the factors contributing to this disparity is vital for the effectiveness of CSR endeavors, as the support of stakeholders and active involvement of the community are crucial for ensuring social sustainability and enduring stability. The study utilizes analyzed data from interviews conducted with both internal and external respondents. It uses problem tree analysis in order to uncover the root causes of low community participation. Focus group discussions are used to delve deeper into the objectives of Value-focused Thinking (VFT) and help determine which alternative solutions should be chosen. The integration of VFT with Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) aids decision-making by recognizing the criteria and sub-criteria used to evaluate solutions based on their values. The findings emphasize identifying skill gaps and providing formal acknowledgment to improve the sense of responsibility and involvement of the community in CSR initiatives. This is in line with PT. PBN’s commitment to its stakeholders and the sustainable development of the community in the long run. In the end, decision-makers give the utmost significance to the strategy of licensing and training, considering its long-term impact, effectiveness, resource availability, and ease of control.

Elasticity of Investment Financing Policy towards the Growth of Film Distribution Networks as an Effort to Redesign the Film Industry

This research aims to analyze the influence of investment financing policies on the growth of film distribution networks. Investment financing policy is seen from the aspect of setting investment credit interest rates in banking. Meanwhile, the growth of the film distribution network can be seen from the aspect of the number of cinema screens in Indonesia. This research uses several variables, such as: Investment Credit Interest Rates at Bank Persero, Regional Development Banks, National Private Banks and Foreign and Joint Venture Banks. The time range used in this research is from 2014 – 2022. This research uses quantitative methods using multiple linear regression. The explanation of the analysis results uses Keynes and Schumpeter’s theoretical approach. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the investment credit interest rate variable had a significant negative effect on the variable number of cinema screens, especially on the National Private Bank Investment Credit Interest Rate. The results of the coefficient of determination (adjusted R2) show that the influence of the number of cinema screens is 0.9492175. The higher the interest rate on investment credit, the lower the number of cinema screens.

Regional and Irrigation-Induced Variations in Secondary Metabolites of Calotropis procera Flowers in Different Agro-Climatic Zones of Rajasthan

Calotropis procera, a species of family Asclepiadaceae is known in traditional system of medicine from centuries due to its property of curing a number of ailments. It is a xerophytic shrub found in tropical regions of Asia and Africa. It’s flower is useful in anorexia, indigestion and intestinal worm infestation, dysentry, abdominal disorders etc. It is used in many Ayurvedic, Unani and Siddha formulations. Hence investigation on  the regional and irrigation-induced variations in secondary metabolites of Calotropis procera flowers across diverse agro-climatic zones in Rajasthan, India,  was taken up to find best region for their collection. The study shows that ACZ IIIA has the highest petroleum ether extract content and ACZ V displays elevated methanol extract yields. Within ACZ IB, involving Hanumangarh and Suratgarh, contrasting results in petroleum ether extract and methanol extract yields are observed, with petroleum ether extract  higher in the irrigated area and methanol higher in the non-irrigated region. ACZ V demonstrates the maximum total extractive yield, while ACZ IB shows minimum values.  Flowers from the irrigated area in Hanumangarh (ACZ IB) exhibit lower values for sterols and alkaloids compared to those from Suratgarh, the non-irrigated region, indicating a complex interplay of environmental factors. Voter Apathy in Nigerian Electoral Democracy: An Insidious Enigma to National Development

This paper examines voter apathy in Nigerian electoral democracy as an insidious enigma to national development, with an emphasis on the 2023 General Elections. Elections in democracies play a vital role in ensuring the representation of popular will and securing the legitimacy of the political system. However, in situations where voter apathy is pronounced in the electoral processes of democratic countries, national development in such countries is nearly defeated. Voter apathy remains an insidious enigma for national development, and Nigeria provides an example of such a country. What is the way out? To answer this question, the paper made use of the decision-making theory by Richard Synder as its theoretical framework, adopted a qualitative research design, relied on secondary sources of data, and analyzed the collected data using the qualitative content data analysis method. The findings of the study revealed the factors causing voters’ apathy in Nigerian electoral democracy and their consequences on the country’s national development. Recommendations were made based on the findings.

A Case Report on Transverse Myelitis

Scrub typhus is known to cause central nervous system involvement, which can show as meningitis or meningoencephalitis. However, relatively few reports of acute transverse myelitis (ATM), a spinal cord lesion, have been linked to scrub typhus. Patients with a spinal lesion and scrub typhus have neurologic symptoms such as dysuria and sensory and motor impairment. Here, we report on an uncommon instance of ATM linked to scrub typhus. The diagnosis of ATM linked with scrub typhus was made based on the patient’s clinical features, cerebral fluid cytology, Orientia tsutsugamushi serum antibody titer, and several magnetic resonance imaging scans.
