Enhancing Sustainable Banking Practices: Implementing the Besgi Framework to Indonesian Bank

Climate change, a global issue largely caused by human activities, is now beginning to be addressed by the G20, including financial institutions. Indonesia, as part of the G20, is implementing a sustainable finance program to improve the financing, durability, and competitiveness of financial services institutions. This study evaluates the adoption of sustainable banking practices in Indonesia within the context of global climate change initiatives. Using the Banks’ Environmental, Social, Governance, and Indirect Impact (BESGI) framework, which provides a comprehensive assessment of banks’ ESG performance using the Multidimensional Synthesis of Indicators (MSI) aggregation method. The BESGI performance of 14 Indonesian banks from 2020-2022 was assessed, revealing varying results of fluctuating data with Mandiri scoring the highest in year 2021 and BTN the lowest in year 2020. The findings indicate a growing emphasis on sustainable finance within the Indonesian banking sector in terms of financing and investment. The BESGI Score has insignificant results on banks’ performance and stability. However, further research is essential to comprehend the implications of these practices on the performance and stability of banks.

Analytical Hierarchy Process as a Priority Strategy for Handling Bad Debts in Cooperatives

The Kediri City Government and the Regional Development Planning Agency are committed to accelerating the economic recovery of the Kediri city community after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, by focusing on MSME capital, the program named Kredit Usaha Melayani Warga or abbreviated as KOPERASI provides very low interest loans of 2% per year for business people in Kediri city. In the utilization of this credit, it turns out that there are still bottlenecks in installments, which if allowed to continue, will have an impact on financial losses and also not achieve the goal of community economic recovery. So that the government needs an in-depth study as a real form of handling bad credit and also the concept of effective and efficient KOPERASI program governance. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach, by applying the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Starting from making questionnaires and determining respondents. The respondents selected were 7 experts, namely, officials at the Kediri City Cooperative & UMTK Office, lecturers at the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Nusantara PGRI Kediri, and MSME beneficiaries of the KOPERASI program. Then the answers are assessed and compared to produce a scale as a determination of the most effective method of overcoming bad credit.

Proposed Succession Planning for Next-Generation Family Business: A Study of PT X

This extensive study, “Proposed Succession Planning for Next-Generation Family Business: A Study of PT X,” examines the crucial process of succession planning in family-owned businesses. Given their importance to the global economy, this study examines the complex process of passing leadership and management from one generation to the next in family businesses. The report underlines the importance of succession planning in ensuring family businesses survive the following generation. The qualitative study uses semi-structured interviews and extensive secondary data analysis. This method allows a thorough analysis of family business owners’ perspectives, revealing succession planning’s complexities. The sample for this research consists of 19 respondents taken by using purposive sampling method. This study identified many important family business succession challenges. Generation gap, communication challenges, and credibility issues affect succession planning. The generation gap exacerbates differences in viewpoints and business methods between generations, making it difficult to align business goals and plans. Management and generational differences can aggravate communication gaps, leading to family business misunderstandings and conflicts. The lack of trust and respect between the founder and the successor creates a credibility gap that hinders leadership transition and economic ties. The article emphasizes the importance of conducting a thorough succession planning approach to close these gaps. This emphasizes the importance of addressing these issues for a smooth leadership transfer and the family business’s continued profitability and growth. To sustain family values and lead the organization to success, successors must be properly prepared. The paper highlights four important phases in succession process: process initiation, successor education, selection, and intergenerational transfer. Planning and execution are essential at every stage. Proactive planning is emphasized in the process initiation stage of retirement and transition planning. Successor education gives successors the knowledge and abilities they need to manage. To ensure the best fit with the business’s future goals, successor selection requires careful consideration of several factors. Final phase of intergenerational transfer focuses on management and ownership transfer. This stage requires careful preparation to maintain the business’s core beliefs and strategy. The survey found that family business succession planning is a continuous process. Evaluation must include family dynamics, company goals, and possible successors’ qualities. A well-organized and rigorous succession planning framework is essential for handling these complexities, ensuring the company’s long-term profitability, and preserving family unity. Overall, this research improves family business succession planning understanding. This resource offers unique viewpoints and effective ideas for family businesses in developing markets like Indonesia. This study underlines the need for a thorough succession planning strategy that accounts for family-owned business challenges and benefits. Thus, it is valuable for business owners, successors, and students studying family business succession dynamics.

Validity and Practicality of Learning Tool for Independent Campus Learning (ICL) Study Program Diploma 3 (D3) Mechanical Engineering Bali State Polytechnic (BSP)

The Independent Campus Learning (ICL) Policy is one of the policy studies that the government is currently promoting to be implemented in universities. Implementing this policy in educational programs, Study Program (SP) readiness is very much needed. This readiness is demonstrated by having appropriate learning tools that are in line with the ICL curriculum. Following up on this policy, SP D3 Mechanical Engineering BSP developed learning tools oriented to the ILC curriculum.  This research aims to determine the level of validity and practicality of learning tools in the form of Semester Learning Plans (SLP), and ICL PS D3 Mechanical Engineering oriented textbooks. The research uses a research and development approach with the Borg & Gall model modified into three development stages, namely: define, design, and develop. The validity test results show that the validity level of the SLP and the ICL SP D3 Mechanical Engineering oriented textbook reached 84.9% and 82.7%, both of which were categorized as valid. The practicality level reached 84.9% and 82.7%, both categorized as practical, with several minor revisions. The implication is that the prototype after carrying out minor revisions can be used as a learning tool and can be continued to the next development stage, namely effectiveness testing.

Opioid Use and Overdose Patterns in Puerto Rico in 2020-2022: A Retrospective Descriptive Study

The opioid epidemic is a recent global phenomenon affecting the United States and its affiliated territories, including Puerto Rico. There is a considerable gap in knowledge on how this epidemic has affected Puerto Rico. This gap can hinder the capabilities of healthcare workers to deliver appropriate treatment and preventative strategies to vulnerable groups. This descriptive study aims to describe opioid use and overdose in Puerto Rico during 2020-2022. This study analyzed data gathered by the Puerto Rico mental health and addiction subdivision of the Public Health Department (Administración de Servicios de Salud y Contra la Adicción; ASSMCA). Some of the noteworthy trends in this study include that most participants who suffered an overdose were overwhelmingly male and in the age group of 35-44 years old. Furthermore, most cases occurred in large metropolitan areas and happened in open spaces during the 12 pm-5:59 pm period. These findings emphasize the need for targeted interventions that consider the sociodemographic characteristics and geographical variations in drug use and overdose incidents in Puerto Rico.
