Banking Industry in Indonesia: Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and the Competition Landscape

Ministry of State-Owned Enterprise of the Republic of Indonesia (BUMN) recently created Ultra Micro Holding BUMN consisting of PT BRI (Bank Rakyat Indonesia), PT Pegadaian and PT PNM Permodalan Nasional Madani. Ministry of BUMN appoints PT BRI as the parent company. Ultra Micro Holding has a vision for the prosper of financial inclusivity by provide various conveniences and lower cost of borrowing funds with a broader reach, deepening of services, and sustainable community empowerment. The government want make Indonesia as developed countries by accelerating ultra-micro segment, through strengthening economic resilience and quality growth, reducing inequality, and improving the quality of human resources, especially Ultra Micro entrepreneurs through empowerment.

This research is aimed to help PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia to analyze the competitive landsacape of banking industry in Indonesia in ultra-micro segment.

Social and Psychological Challenges Facing Orphaned Children Living in the Orphanage Centres in Tanzania

The study aimed to assess social and psychological challenges facing orphaned children living in the orphanages in Tanzania. The motivational theory of Abraham Maslow guided this study with the use of the qualitative approach. In-depth interviews were employed to collect data from the research participants. The study was carried out in four orphanage centres within three wards in Dar es Salaam Region. A purposive sampling technique was employed to get 29 participants for this study. Specifically, the study intends to answer the following unexplored questions: i) What are the social challenges facing orphaned children living in the orphanages? ii) What are the psychological challenges facing orphaned children living in the orphanages? The findings revealed that in the orphanages orphaned children experienced various social challenges including shortage of basic needs, shortage of educational materials, and lack of sport gears as well as poor health services. They also faced psychological challenges like physical punishment, bullying behaviours from fellows, segregation, isolation and poor attachment from their caregivers. Such challenges are indicators for defining ineffectiveness of   caregivers in providing psychosocial services to orphaned children. The study concluded that in the present context, orphanages are not a good residence for orphans’ psychosocial wellbeing due to shortage of funds and presence of untrained personnel. The study recommended that, the government should formulate interventional policies and enact laws which would look after the welfare of orphaned children rather than depending on the institutional Care.

 

An Updates on Genus Gisekia L. Found in India

Gisekia L. is a common ephemeral genus found in India. There is only one species recorded in all over India namely G. pharnaceoides and have two varieties namely var. pharnaceoides and var. pseudopaniculata. Currently according to plants of the world online database the var. pseudopaniculata has been considered as synonym of G. diffusa.   Hence present investigation was done to check out the updating status of genus Gisekia L. in India and author has experienced that the var. pseudopaniculata found in India must be treated as G. diffusa. Since there are mere differences in both species hence in present investigation the new keys are introduced along with the digital photos of each plant parts for easy identification.

 

From Farm to Table: Transforming The Shrimp Industry through Food Traceability and Business Differentiation Strategies at PT. Udang Maju Sejahtera

This thesis investigates the development of a food traceability system for the shrimp export industry at PT. Udang Maju Sejahtera (UMS). The primary objective was to enhance the transparency and accountability of the shrimp supply chain, thereby improving product quality and consumer trust.

The study employed a three-pronged approach: formulating a robust business strategy, innovating product development, and restructuring the organization into a cross-functional team. The business strategy focused on aligning the company’s operations with the emerging demands for food traceability in the export market. The product development innovation involved the creation of a traceability system that leverages advanced technology to track and record the journey of shrimp from farm to consumer.

The restructuring into a cross-functional team aimed to streamline the decision-making process and accelerate the development cycle. The results indicated that while PT. UMS’s strategy aligns with the industry’s direction towards increased traceability, the development process was time-consuming and required organizational restructuring.

The study concludes that the integration of a cross-functional team within PT. UMS could expedite the development and implementation of the traceability system, thereby enhancing the company’s competitiveness in the shrimp export industry. Recommendations for PT. UMS include enhancing innovation management, investing in advanced technology, collaborating with external partners, and adopting a culture of continuous improvement. Future research should explore the long-term impacts of these recommendations on the company’s performance and the traceability system’s effectiveness.

Proposed Business Model Innovation Based on Customer Experience and Digital Innovation at PT Raja Paket Lebaran

PT Raja Paket Lebaran (PT RPL), an Indonesian SME specializing in the sales of groceries and household goods for the Eid al-Fitr, has faced a significant decline in sales amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to examine the company’s relevance to the market and customer satisfaction while proposing a business model innovation based on customer experience and digital innovation. The findings reveal that integrating customer experience and digital innovation can enhance PT RPL’s business model. By addressing marketing limitations, simplifying digital processes, and leveraging online platforms, the company can improve the overall customer experience. The proposed business model innovation offers practical recommendations for PT RPL to adapt to the changing market landscape and meet customer expectations. By embracing digital innovation, the company can increase its competitiveness, attract a wider range of customers, and achieve sustainable growth. This research contributes to the existing knowledge by exploring the intersection of customer experience and digital innovation in an Indonesian SME context. It offers valuable insights for similar businesses to enhance their models and improve customer satisfaction.

The Portrait of the Tirta Agung Tourism Village as a Geological Tourist Destination: The Case of Ijen Geopark in Bondowoso, Indonesia

The aim of this study is to analyze the implementation of Tirta Agung Tourism Village, Sukosari Kidul Village, Sumberwringin District, Bondowoso in supporting the development of Ijen Geopark. The research uses a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach with domain analysis, share vision, participation, networking, and collaboration. The analysis is carried out by qualitative descriptive methods. The subjects of the study were the Head of the Tourism Awareness Group, the Chairman of the Ijen Geopark Daily, the Head of the Sports and Sports Youth Tourism Office, several informants related to the implementation of the Tirta Agung tourism village. The results showed that the implementation of tourism villages refers to the regulations of the local government and village aparatus through BUMDes and Pokdarwis. The implementation of tirta Agung tourism village, Sukosari village, can run well. through the traditional communication model of local wisdom, village youth gatherings while drinking coffee, managing stakeholder support, and maintaining group compliance.

Propose New Marketing Strategy for the New Branch of Café Kopi Madi

In 2019, Covid-19 that hit Indonesia greatly affected all segments. The decline in sales and revenue received by the company has made some businesses unable to withstand this pandemic. However, in 2022, Indonesia has begun to be free from the Covid-19 pandemic, little by little. Kopi Madi is a coffee shop that was built in 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic was still hitting Indonesia. But Kopi Madi has survived until now because of the products offered and requests from customers that continue to increase every year. And in 2023, Madi Coffee has expanded its wings and opened its first branch in the Tebet area, South Jakarta. Seeing the increase in income derived from Kopi Madi, the owners opened branches to expand their market. However, from the sales results for the first and second months, Kopi Madi (Tebet) is very far from being successful. Therefore, this research was also conducted to find out what strategies are suitable for Kopi Madi (Tebet) in increasing its sales.

This study aims to investigate effective marketing strategies to increase sales at Kopi Madi (Tebet). In a competitive industry like coffee shops, it is important for business owners to develop and implement the right marketing strategy to attract customers and increase revenue. The analysis used is a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the internal and external data of Kopi Madi (Tebet). And the results obtained from processing the data will be formulated using the SWOT Analysis and TOWS Matrix to find a suitable strategy. And after getting the strategy to be implemented, a plan is needed to implement the strategy at Kopi Madi (Tebet).

Proposed Business Strategy for Law firm (Case Study of RP)

This paper addresses the business issues faced by RP, a mid size law firm tiered 4 in Indonesia, including unnecessary fixed costs associated with renting a large office space, stagnation in rankings by legal 500 and IFLR, and challenges in maintaining client relationships and service quality amid growth. The author aims to conduct research on the law firm industry to analyze and understand the specific conditions of RP. The research seeks to propose effective business strategies to help RP generate more revenue, regain its original market position, and overcome the aforementioned challenges. By thoroughly analyzing RP’s current situation, this study aims to identify the necessary business solutions that will enable RP to meet client needs, enhance profitability, and gain a competitive advantage in the legal market. The findings and recommendations from this research are expected to provide valuable insights for RP and contribute to the advancement of strategic decision-making within the law firm industry.

Development of Ethnomatematics-Based E-Book Teaching Materials to Train Numeracy Skills in Geometry Materials in Elementary Schools

This study aims to develop ethnomathematics-based E-Book teaching materials to train students’ numeracy skills and to determine student learning activities when using E-Book teaching materials. This research is a type of Research and Development (R&D) research. The development model used in this study is the ASSURE development model. This research will later develop valid, practical and effective ethnomathematics-based E-Book teaching materials as well as analyze student learning activities. Data collection instruments in this study used validation sheets, questionnaires, tests and observation sheets. The data analysis technique used is the analysis of validity, practicality, effectiveness and analysis of student learning activities. The results showed that the validity of the media and material validity of E-Book teaching materials based on ethnomathematics obtained results of 93.7% and 89.2% with the “Very Valid” criteria. The practicality of ethnomathematics-based E-Book teaching materials obtained results of 94.2% from teacher responses and 82% from student responses so that ethnomathematics-based E-Book teaching materials can be said to be “Very Practical”. Furthermore, the effectiveness of E-Book teaching materials based on ethnomathematics obtained an average N-Gain result of 42.50% with the “Medium” effectiveness criterion. Meanwhile for the results of student learning activities, the results obtained in the experimental group were greater than in the control group, namely 87% with the criteria of “Very Active”.

Relationship between Pesticide Exposure and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Farmers: Systematic Review

A metabolic disorder known as diabetes mellitus is brought on when the pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin. Diabetes mellitus has a multifactorial pathogenesis, one of which is environmental pollution caused by agricultural chemicals such as pesticides. Pollutants contained in pesticides can act as endocrine-disrupting chemicals which can disrupt the endocrine system in the body. EDC into the body through exposure to pesticides through the respiratory, skin, and digestive systems. In the next process, it enters the organs of the body, namely, the pancreas. The absorbed EDC affects beta cells in producing insulin hormones. Insulin deficiency leads to high blood sugar levels, resulting in type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to determine the relationship between pesticide exposure and the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus among farmers. This study was conducted using a systematic review of the research method. The keywords used in the journal search were “pesticide and diabetes mellitus and farmers”. Eight articles met our inclusion criteria. Based on the results of a literature study, the working period, spraying frequency, physical activity, amount of pesticides, and use of personal protective equipment were related to the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in farmers. From the eight articles reviewed, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between exposure to pesticides and the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in farmers.
