Personality and Tendency in Deciding to Receive Cosmetic Procedures among Thai Youth in The Bangkok Metropolitan Area

Facial cosmetic procedures are medical interventions which are designed to enhance or improve the appearance of the face. In Thailand, there are limited studies that explore the intentions of Thai youth to undergo facial cosmetic procedures. The research’s purpose is to investigate the reasons that make Thai youth and teenagers undergo facial cosmetic procedures. The correlation between personality traits and the tendency to undergo cosmetic procedures among Thai youth in the Bangkok Metropolitan area was studied using an online questionnaire based on the personalities under the Big Five Inventory-10, including agreeableness, conscientiousness, extraversion, neuroticism, and openness to experience. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the data. There are 427 participants in the survey with 70.02% females,an age range of 16-18 and mostly students. The tendency in receiving cosmetic procedures is significantly different between genders among Thai youth. The tendency of receiving cosmetic procedures is significantly different among Thai youth with different amounts of income. Agreeable personalities are significantly different between genders, but there is no correlation between agreeableness and tendency to obtain facial cosmetic procedures, and women are more likely to receive facial cosmetic procedures than men do regardless of agreeableness.

Kim Bok-jin – the founder of national sculpture in Korea during the Japanese colonial period

This study analyzes the biography and work of Kim Bok-jin (pseudonym: Chongwan), the first Korean to graduate from the sculpture department of Tokyo University of the Arts in Japan during the Japanese colonial period (in 1925) and the first sculptor to introduce Western realist techniques to Korea. The study will also examine the national motifs in the works of Kim Bok-jin against the backdrop of a difficult historical period, and analyze a number of his little-known works through the prism of Korean studies. The main content of the study is the sculptures of Kim Bok-jin “standing woman”, “statue of Maitreya Buddha” “Baek Hwa”, “Youth (Boy)”, “Old man”. He is a significant figure in Korean sculpture: from 1925 until his death in 1940, Kim Bok-jin regularly exhibited his works at the Joseon Art Exhibition, and in addition to his artistic activities, he also ran the Art Research Institute, nurturing young artists. He also engaged in journalism, criticism, and political activity as a member of the Joseon Communist Party. The purpose of this study is to rethink the work of Kim Bok-jin, the founder of Korean sculpture, who was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit of the National Foundation in 1993.

Psychological Influence of Social Media on Body Standards of Youth in Dubai

Due to increased social media usage among young people, there is a higher probability of certain digital interactions leading to risky behaviors among younger individuals. This study aims at investigating the negative psychological impact social media can have on the youth’s body standards and to better understand the correlation between social media and body standards. An online self-administered survey was used as a data collection instrument among 150 participants in Dubai through a systematic random sampling technique. SPSS program was used for the detailed analysis of gathered data. Based on findings, the study concluded that there is a strong correlation between social media and body standards, with the psychological impact of social media upon body standards of the youth being highly negative. Evidence also proved that this negative psychological influence may manifest itself in the form of harmful behaviors.
