Perspectives of Teaching and Evaluation in Mathematics

Mathematics as a subject is quite unique in its processes and teaching in that it requires the least amount of memorization. Aside from the numbers and the functions of the operators themselves, not much needs to be memorized to do mathematics. This study is a review on all the different approaches of teaching the subject given by some famous educationists such as Bruner, Piaget, Vygotsky and Dewey in the past. Furthermore, various assessment methods for the subject have been discussed.

Development of TPACK-Based Teaching Materials on Biodiversity Subject to Measure Students’ Critical Thinking Skills

Teaching materials are auxiliary elements employed to accomplish the goals of the educational process. The observed fact reveals a deficiency in teaching materials that incorporate Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) for the purpose of developing students’ critical thinking abilities. Thus, there is a want for an instructional resource that may assist pupils in enhancing their critical thinking abilities. The objective of this project is to provide TPACK-based teaching materials on biodiversity that are credible, effective, and practical. In addition to elucidating students’ critical thinking abilities through the utilization of TPACK-based instructional resources. The methodology employed in this study is Research and Development (R&D) utilizing the ADDIE paradigm. The tool employed is a questionnaire sheet for the purpose of validating materials and media. The study yielded data indicating that teaching materials centered around Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) were valid and appropriate for learning purposes in the context of Biodiversity. The validity includes a material validation score of 91.25% and a media score of 96.42%, with an N-Gain of 0.75, indicating strong testing performance. Therefore, it can be inferred that educational resources rooted in Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) and focused on the topic of Biodiversity have a positive impact on students’ ability to think critically.

Lesson Plan and Its Importance in Teaching Process

Teaching in the simplest sense of the term is the flow of interaction between the teacher and the students that is done to achieve pre-designed goals based on a codified plan. Planning and goals of a lesson presented by the teacher at the beginning of the session is one of the most important and effective factors in the learning process of students. Summing up these items at the end of the lesson and presenting a summary of a lesson is of special importance to the students’ learning.  The necessity of developing lesson plans in our classrooms, schools and educational institutions is a case that is less appreciated to it, so this study has been done to investigate how to prepare and implement lesson plan and to know its importance in the teaching process of learning. The resources used in this research are textbooks and curriculum, educational and scientific articles. The findings of this research show that curriculum in the teaching process causes the teacher to be ready for teaching and to formulate his/her course activities according to the students’ preparation level.

Occupational Stressors of Teachers in the Department of Education Calbayog City Division

Teaching is considered a noble profession. Despite being noble, it is considered demanding and stressful. This study was conducted to derive components that serve as occupational stressors of teachers in Calbayog City Division of the Department of Education. Three hundred and two teachers from Calbayog City Division of the Department of Education were identified by the researchers using random sampling technique. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Test was applied to determine if Principal Component Analysis was appropriate for this study. Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity was used to know the strength of correlation between different variables. The researchers were able to identify four components as the stressors of teachers such as Motivation (Component 1), Cultural Professionalism (Component 2), Workload (Component 3), and Technology (Component 4).

Challenges of Teaching and Learning English at Undergraduate Level: A Case Study

This paper is an attempt to investigate the challenges or problems regarding teaching and learning English as a compulsory subject at the undergraduate level of Panjab University Constituent College Dharamkot (PUCCD). The study discusses both the perspective of teachers and learners using case study model. Classroom observation, questionnaire, and textbook analysis are used as methodology. The triangulation of data results out the challenges of teaching and learning English language which is faced by both the students and teachers in this college and points out some basic solutions regarding that.
