Does the Index of Child Right Fulfillment Explain the Children’s Wellbeing in Indonesia?

A safe city for children becomes the evidence of the role and the action of the government to improve children’s well-being. This city also prevents any violence against children by collaborating the roles of the government and the parents. This research reviews the determinant factors of children’s well-being in Indonesia based on the factors of parents’ contributions and government role. This research’s contribution is – to the children’s well-being in Indonesia by fulfilling their rights. The implications of the study are – to determine the index of children’s fulfillment and to explain the children’s well-being seen from the factors of parent and government roles. This research applied multiple linear regression on the panel data from 2018 to 2021 in Indonesia. The research findings included the index of child rights fulfillment in Indonesia could explain the factors of children’s well-being in Indonesia with the collaborated roles from the parents and the government. However, specific attention is important for the government expenditure on various sectors to optimize the children’s well-being. Low realizations for government expenditure were observable in the educational and social well-being sectors.

Government Expenditure and Poverty in East Java Province

This study aimed to examine the effect of government spending on poverty in East Java Province. Government spending was examined in terms of spending on education, health, and social protection. The method used was a quantitative approach. Multiple regression analysis was used to test three hypotheses in the study. The population of this study is the Expenditure Realization Report by Function in the APBD of 38 districts/cities in East Java Province in 2017-2021. This study used a saturated sample so that the entire population was used as a sample, amounting to 190 data. The results showed that education expenditure affects poverty with a positive and significant direction of influence. Health expenditure affects poverty, although with a negative direction of influence. Social protection expenditure affects poverty, although with a negative direction of influence. This study is expected to contribute to the government in allocating government spending so that it is following priorities and is right on target for people who are more in need.

Economic Growth and Government Expenditure in ASEAN Countries: A Threshold Approach

This study examines the effect of government spending on the economic growth of ASEAN countries between 2000 and 2020, using estimates for panel data. The results show that government spending responds positively to the economic growth of ASEAN countries. Intriguingly, this study finds a threshold level for government spending that reduces economic growth if governments let it exceeds 26.82 percent of GDP. Therefore, this study recommends that ASEAN governments need to pursue targeted and rational spending policies.
